Tuesday was another day of traveling and the morning started with about a two hour drive to Rothenburg, Germany. Rothenburg is a well preserved medieval town. According to our tour guide, Disney based Pinnochio’s town on this city (it was very obvious once we got there). When we arrived, we were again greater by fabulous warm weather (shorts and t-shirts at last!) We had two hours to kind if wander the city before lunch. We had some coffee and also did a bit of shopping. We also found a quatrefoil shaped fountain, so obviously we had to take a Phi Mu picture (Aglaia here we come). We also were able to climb some of the towers and get a birds eye view of the adorable town. Definitely loved it there. It was so cute and almost didn’t seem real.
We had lunch at a gasthaus in the city after our free time. We had sausage and really good mashed potatoes followed by some ice cream – very delicious!
Then it was back on the bus for about a three hours drive to Munich. Thankfully we are staying here a couple nights and don’t have to do a lot of travel for a couple of days.
Our hotel in Munich is pretty nice. Katie and I are in like an apartment that has a couch and a tiny kitchen with a stove.
After getting ready, we headed to Hofbrauhaus for dinner and drinks. I had never heard of it before but Hofbrauhaus was built in the 1800s and is massive. There is a lot of history there and it was so fun to get a taste of culture in Munich. For dinner, I had a Bavarian chicken and potato salad. The potato salad was not what I expected but it still kind of tasted like regular potato salad. Of course, we tried the beer which was really good. Normally I don’t like dark beer, but it was good there! Some Serbian men also fell in love with me, but I was not interested.
After dinner, one of the group has a friend visiting from Berlin so she and her friends from Munich took us to a club. It was a lot of fun, but I was tired so I didn’t stay out too late.
